Mukawir is a historic attraction in Jordan that is about one hour and a half drive from Amman, around 30 to 40 minutes from Madaba.

I advice you wear something comfortable and somewhat conservative, comfortable sports shoes, and go by car or taxi. It is around 20 minutes walk up the hill or around 35 minutes if you are taking photographs on the way.

Mukawir Fortress was built by Alexander Jannaeus in the first century BC and is a religion biblical story of Salome the dancer who danced to Hadrian to get John the Baptist “Prophey Yahya bin Zakaria” beheaded. It was said the John the Baptist was imprisoned for 2 years and then beheaded. In 70 AD, the fortress was destroyed by the Romans while under the emperor of Titus.

There is not much to see, but it sure is worth the visit, the colors of nature, and the fresh air is just sensational, the walk up is very easy and takes very little time, it is not so busy and not visited much so usually serene and calm.

My favorite part of Mukawir is the view that over looks the Dead Sea and Palestine, it is breathtaking when the sky is clear, and I would defiantly advice you go right before sunset because the view is just magical and worth staying for.

I spent around 5 hours total including transportation and had a wonderful time taking photograph and meditating on the hilltop overlooking the sunset.

Why WadiRum is one of the most magical places on earth. Click here to learn more.

Pray a little something for your magical inner self…

There is always magic within… From time to time we can sit, meditate, pray and listen to our inner self speak… How is my “inner self” feeling ? What does my “inner self” has to say. Sit somewhere isolated with the least noise & distraction, close your eyes, say a little prayer and direct your awareness inwards, at this moment do nothing and just listen. Try to isolate your self from your inner self, let your self observe while your inner self express. Stay there as much as you can, try not to judge your inner thoughts or feelings, don’t criticize or look for explanations or reasons… Just let your inner self be. Once your done just rest there, write or let your self express its judgements but don’t get attached to them just learn about your within and without. Most importantly trust that magic happens, that whatever seems to be impossible is only possible when you let go of your old thoughts & beliefs. Just let your self (thoughts & feelings) float across life & let your inner self speak louder for you. Have a beautiful start of the week, a beautiful morning, afternoon & evening. Express your love & learn about the love in everyone else.

I published a page few days ago about my night in Wadi Rum. It is not my first time there but it sure is my first night. And this is just the beginning for me for I have found gems in the desert that night.

Wadi Rum is a desert in Jordan with several available camps that you can sleep in for a very low price. The camps are clean, neat and safe “as far as I have experienced & heard”.

You need to have a sleeping bag “if you wish to sleep under the starlight & not inside your tent” you also need to have a “Hygienic Kit” and some “tissue paper” for if it is needed.

As for what can be done at the desert… It is countless but I will count a few that I have done in the 2 days I spent there:
1. Camp 2. Hike 3. Mountain Climb 4. Slide on Sand 5. Drink Bedouin Tea 6. Eat Bedouin Food “delicious to a certain extent” 7. Star Gaze 8. Meditate 9. Visit Bedouin Tents 10. Ride Camel 11. Fly on a Hot air balloon “that I actually didn’t do yet” 12. Watch the Sunset in the Middle of Desert until the Desert is only lit by the Moon & Star Lights 13. Watch the Sunrise 14. Drive inside the Desert “You will need a 4by4” 15. Meet Bedouins & listen to their Desert Stories 16. Build a Fire at Night & Drink more Tea 17. Walk BareFoot while it’s Day Light.

Rainbows

Wadi Rum WadiRum Jordan VisitJordan Camels Sand Bedouin Tea Camp Hike Mountain Blog TravelBlog rainbow gasstation

The meaning of life is given to us on a silver plate : After the Rain comes Sunshine and at the peak between the Storm & Shine appears a Rainbow. If you are lucky you will spot the rainbow. Rainbows are an optical illusion caused by sunlight & they appear in full circle directly opposite of the sun. We only get to see half of the circle & sometimes we get to spot a Double Rainbow. The only time you can see the full circle of the rainbow is if you were lucky enough to locate the rainbow from an airplane. Rainbows are always visible by a dark cloud behind them. The colors that appear are: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
Rainy & cloudy days are sign of new rainbow a sign of bright sunlight that is going to enter your life again, but we only get to see them if we are out to welcome them. A dark room will remain dark until the blinds are lifted. Enjoy your day even if it’s storming because a day is a reason enough to celebrate.
